Doodles (Owl and Deer)

Some doodles after reading Drawing and Painting Fantasy Worlds by Finlay Cowan. I'm fairly proud of the owl, even if I used the owl featured in the book as a reference to draw. The elf girl on the deer was inspired after reading the piece on making your own fantasy creatures. i really liked the idea of riding a deer or horned creature so I drew this from imagination with a bit of help after looking up deer photos to see how they're coloured.

I'm usually very catious about colouring anything that I really like in fear that I'll ruin it, so it's pretty cool that I managed to colour the pair and it didn't turn out absolutely horrible. I still don't know how people end up with beautiful works of art with coloured pencils, mine always look like an elementary school kid coloured them, but I guess I'll keep trying. I think it has to do with overlaying colours, I'll probably experiment with it later.
